Thank you for visiting Nexus Psychiatry, PLLC. As founder, my vision for this practice is to provide exceptional, patient-centered psychiatric care to my patients. I deliver a compassionate mental-health experience that offers current evidence-based practices tailored individually to my patients. I believe in a multi-faceted approach to treatment in which medications are only one component. The other equally important facets include psychotherapy, which helps us understand our relationship with ourselves and those around us, and promoting general physical health.

Biography
Dr. Gonzalez is originally from South Texas but was afforded the opportunity to pursue his education out of state before coming back home for his residency training. Dr. Gonzalez attended Duke University, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry. He pursued graduate studies in at the University of Illinois – Urbana Champaign, where he obtained a Masters degree in Organic Chemistry. His interest in helping people on a personal level propelled him to pursue a medical career. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, where he discovered a passion for psychiatry. He found that psychiatry combined his interests in science, human behavior, and patients’ unique experiences, allowing him to provide an integrated approach to care. Dr. Gonzalez completed his residency training at The University of Texas Dell Medical School in Austin, where he served as Chief Resident in the Department of Psychiatry. He rounded out his training by completing a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at UT Health San Antonio.
Approach
Dr. Gonzalez’s training affords him the opportunity to care for adults even as they age into older adulthood. He is highly experienced in the evidence-based use of psychiatric medications, along with incorporating various psychotherapy modalities, such as psychodynamic therapy and cognitive process therapy for trauma. The ultimate goal is to gain an understanding of the patient’s experiences and values in order to help them pursue their goals and ultimate mental well-being.
